Our Story
In 2019, the Preston County Farm Crawl was created with a simple belief:
if people could see our farms, they would understand their value.

Tucked into the mountains of Preston County, our community is home to some of the most hardworking and resilient farmers in the state. In fact, we are one of the largest counties in West Virginia—and proudly hold one of the highest numbers of farms per capita.

But like so many rural places, our farms were often hidden—known only to neighbors, passed down through word of mouth, or tucked behind winding country roads.

The Farm Crawl changed that.
For one weekend each year, we open the gates.
We invite you to step onto the land, meet the farmers, and experience firsthand where your food comes from.

You’ll find more than just products—you’ll find stories.
Stories of families stewarding land for generations.
Stories of new farmers building something from scratch.
Stories of Appalachian grit, innovation, and pride.

From pasture-raised meats and fresh produce to handmade goods and small-batch creations, every stop on the Farm Crawl is a chance to connect—to the land, to the people, and to something real.

This isn’t just about agriculture.
It’s about community.
It’s about preserving a way of life.
And it’s about making sure our farms don’t just survive—but thrive.

So come drive the hills, follow the signs, and discover what’s been here all along.

Welcome to the Preston County Farm Crawl.
We’ve been waiting for you!
